Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy College

The proposal of starting Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy College was piloted by Sri. K. Jagmohan a veteran Teacher, Social activist and practicing lawyer. In order to translate his proposal into a living reality he met Late Shankerji, the moving spirit behind Osmania Graduates Association, a unique body of its kind, committed to the cause of education and upliftment of the downtrodden in Telangana region. Late Pothnak Pentaji and Karepe Bhavanaji, the local philanthropists came forward to donate 10acres of land and to sell 10more acres of land on nominal price. Sri Manchala Mallesham, a leading businessman of the town, who is a great patron of education and culture had mobilized the business community for building up the corpus fund. Finally on 10-10-1973 the college got started. It bears the name of the presiding deity of the sacred pilgrim centre of this region Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.

Infrastructure

The college is amply furnished class rooms, well equipped laboratories for Computers, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Applied Nutrition, and well established library with 25000 books, volumes and journals. A well-equipped gymnasium complex with major games courts are provided for physical development of students.

Academic Standards

Number of students of the college have secured distinctions in University examination and received Gold Medals from OGA/Exhibition Society regularly. NCC cadets and NSS volunteers are selected for PreRepublic Day and Republic Day Camps. Faculty in the college are well acquainted for teaching and research work.

Placements

Many students of the college of different faculties have been placed as Sub-Inspectors, Circle-Inspectors, Constables, Teachers, Lawyers, Politicians, Artists. Present Telangana Legislative Council Member Sri Karne Prabhakar is an old student of the college and Naveen (known as Teenmar Mallanna), reader of Teenmar News in V6 channel is also an old student of the college.

National Service Scheme (N.S.S)

The NSS volunteers are expected to undertake a project of their choice from the prescribed and sanctioned list of the projects and put in at least 120 hours of community service to obtain a merit certificate. A student who volunteers 240 hours of work and participates in a special camp is entitled to a merit certificate from the University and College, which enables the student to get preference in admission for highest studies.
