The Osmania Graduates’ Association established Sardar Patel College, Secunderabad in the year 1970 with the liberal financial assistance provided by the Exhibition Society. Sardar Patel College, Secunderabad provides instruction for B.A., B.Com., B.Com. Computers Science, M.Com, M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) and also M.B.A. The College has made rapid strides in all spheres of curricular and extracurricular activities. Starting with an initial strength of 900, the College now has over 1600 students on its rolls and 68 members of the Teaching Staff in the faculties of Arts, Commerce and Science and 49 members of the Non-Teaching Staff. The College Laboratories are very well equipped. The University Grants Commission also provides grants for Library & Laboratories.

The College has won the 6th and 7th Eenadu Cricket Championships at the Regional and State Level in 2012-13 and 2013-14. The College also has produced several Ranji Trophy Cricketers and other players who represented the country in other games

The College is having a registered Jawahar Knowledge Study Centre. Through the JKC, socially and economically backward students are supported for employment opportunities.

This institution is an established center of interactive, modern methods of teaching and learning as well as shaping the thoughts and personalities of the youth who repose their faith in the curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular activities conducted here.

The College Management sponsors 9 Gold Medals every year for academic excellence. The toppers of B.A., B.Sc, & B.Com, at U.G. level and M.com, M.Sc, & M.B.A., at P.G Levels have an opportunity to receive the Gold Medals.

Dr. Asha Chadha, Dr. R. Venkateswara Rao, Dr. G. Prasuna Solomon participated in the five day district level programme on” Human Values” conducted by Commissionerate of Collegiate Education and successfully organized a programme presided by the founder of the programme, Prof. Pradeep form IIIT & Human Resources Development Ministry.

Department of Mathematics organized Mathematics Day celebration on the occasion of Srinivas Ramanujan’s 126th birthday on 24-12-2013.

Sravani of B.Sc (MPCs) secured 100% and Mamatha of B.Sc (MPCs) 92% in Maths, Paper –I. Shashidhar Gandhi of B.Com final secured 92% in English Paper-II.

National Service Scheme (N.S.S)

The NSS volunteers are expected to undertake a project of their choice from the prescribed and sanctioned list of the projects and put in at least 120 hours of community service to obtain a merit certificate. A student who volunteers 240 hours of work and participates in a special camp is entitled to a merit certificate from the University and College, which enables the student to get preference in admission for highest studies.

National Cadet Corps (N.C.C)

N.C.C. is a 3 year training program and entitles the Cadet with the appropriate certificate for seat reservation for higher studies and professional courses. Training programmes in First Aid, Home Nursing, Para-Sailing etc., are conducted in the morning hours before the regular college timings, so as to facilitate the student participation. Outstanding cadets are sent abroad (Canada and Andaman and Nicobar islands on Youth Exchange Programmes). The college cadets have earned high ranks in N.C.C. It is also offering online courses on Disaster Management for a fortnight’s duration from academic year 2014.
